Dive into the world of storytelling and creating with this Young Authors and Ilustrators Workshop, a six week, self paced course designed for children to bring their imaginative stories and artwork to life by creating and publishing their very own book or colouring book. Under the guidance of a self published author and small business owner, this workshop offers an exciting opportunity for young minds to explore the realms of writing designing and entrepreneurship. What I offer: Comprehensive Curriculum; from the inception of an idea to holding a finished book in their hands, students will embark on a complete journey of discovery and creation. This includes crafting their narrative, illustrating their visions, designing a captivating cover page and understanding the nuances of item descriptions and pricing. Personalized Guidance; each participant will receive personalized mentorship from an experienced author and entrepreneur, ensuring their unique story and artistic vision come to fruition. As their teacher, I am dedicated to nurturing each child's creative talents and business skills, providing them with the skills to thrive in both literary and entrepreneurial endeavors. Creative Freedom and Structured Learning; while this course is structed to guide students through each step of the book creation process, we place a strong emphasis on creative freedom. Students are encouraged to explore their ideas and express themselves freely, with support and guidance to refine their work into a polished final product. Publishing Insight; participants will gain invaluable insight into the world of self-publishing, learning about the process, options available for young authors and how to make their book available to readers. This includes understanding how to price their book and how to describe it to potential readers Entrepreneurial Skills; beyond the creative aspects, this course also introduces basic entrepreneurial concepts, preparing students to potentially sell their books. They will learn about item descriptions, pricing strategies and the satisfaction of creating something valuable for others to enjoy.

Let's Discuss Ideas
In this lesson we are working on coming up with ideas and learning how to brainstorm, make a vision board as well as a story board or a list of colouring page ideas. We will learn the importance of this step and be introduced to the course. Lesson 2:
Start Designing
There is a lot that goes into the design process. It is important for students to begin making a rough draft of their ideas, putting pen to paper to provide a starting point. We will be working on writing our story as well as coming up with the ideas for each illustration. If students have decided on creating a colouring book we will be focusing on start rough drafts of the designs. We will complete our rough draft by the end of this lesson. Lesson 3:
Continue Designing
The design process will take a little while to complete but it is a two part process. This lesson will focus on making our final draft, checking for mistakes, putting together final drawings. Lesson 4:
Start Designing a Cover Page
The cover page is one of the most important pieces in selling your book so we will spend this lesson talking about design and creating our very own cover page. Other Details

Hello there!
My name is Emile Power and I cannot wait to meet your learner! I am a stay-at-home mom to three daughters, live in Toronto, ON and have nine years of teaching experience. I earned my bachelor's degree in Sociology and Psychology through Laurentian University as well as a TESOL and TEFL certificates. After tutoring privately for many years for ages 3-18, I began teaching ESL in the online classroom. I have been teaching ESL online for over two years now and absolutely love the online classroom! I have a multitude of experience working with children with disabilities including but not limited to ADHD, Autism, Down Syndrome and learning disabilities. My classroom is a place of accessibility so please do not hesitate to ask for accommodations or let me know how I can help your child succeed.
My teaching style is student centered and engaging. I like to focus on bringing learning to life through activities. I have always been a hands on learner and watching my daughters learn as well it seems to stick better when they can get their hands dirty. My classes will always include creating. We will work through concepts like math, reading and comprehension through creating and using our imagination. I will be focusing on comprehension, creativity and imagination in my classes for all ages. I will have classes designed for specific age groups to ensure all learners can participate in an atmosphere that suits their learning level and needs.
Life lessons are so important and creating a classroom environment to learn them in a fun way is always my goal. Using the creative side of the brain allows for different retention of material as well as a new outlet for growth and development.
