to the contentHomework
1-2 hours per week. Homework will be assigned weekly, consisting of a variety of question types, including multiple-choice questions, short answers, essays, and problem-solving exercises. The assignments will be posted every Friday, and students will have the weekend to complete them. Grading will be available upon request, ensuring students receive timely feedback and support for their learning progress.Assessment
A comprehensive end-of-course exam will be administered at the conclusion of the program to assess the students' overall understanding of the material.Class Experience

Advanced Level
NOTE: Self-Paced means no live sessions. This allows the student more flexibility to access the course when ready and work at their own pace. In this self-paced course, there will be two lecture videos (40-45 minutes/lecture) posted every week for 12 weeks. New material will be placed on the Outschool website every Monday morning at 6 am EST. This will include videos, written activities, and reinforcement worksheets (FRQs, MC questions) In this self-paced course, there will be two lecture videos (40-45 minutes/lecture) posted every week for 12 weeks. 20 Lessons
over 20 WeeksUnit 1: Unit 1: The Living World: Ecosystems
Lesson 1:
Environmental Science: Studying the State of Our Earth
Students will define ecosystems, differentiate between terrestrial and aquatic biomes, explain primary productivity, and describe the carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and water cycles, including their significance in ecosystem dynamics.
Lesson 2:
Environmental Systems
Students will be able to define trophic levels, explain the flow of energy in an ecosystem including the 10% rule, and illustrate the concepts of food chains and food webs within ecological systems.
Unit 2: Unit 2: The Living World: Biodiversity
Lesson 3:
Ecosystem Ecology
Students will differentiate between terrestrial and aquatic biomes, identifying their characteristic features, biodiversity, and environmental factors shaping their ecosystems.
Lesson 4:
Global Climates and Biomes
Students will comprehend the concept of biodiversity, analyze the importance of ecosystem services, and evaluate the principles of island biogeography in relation to biodiversity conservation.
