Class is similar to live version of Comic class, huge hit with students. Students will learn how to create original characters that are either: comic, or anime while creating comic style figures, clothing for our figures, and cover.
Class experience
Students will be taught by Sharon Wozniak-Spencer, MFA artist from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. Comic book characters will be shown and students will learn how to make original characters from favorites. We will work to give each other feedback while talking about character development, story writing, and creating a cover design. Students will be able to work on original comic characters and design original characters, facial features, body, clothing, and cover.
I have been working with students in the comic genre for many years in both private setting, public, and at the museum level. I love to draw people and figures, and students love the comic side of that. I find that once you learn the breakdown of the information it makes it much easier to continue on and I enjoy seeing student success. I have also worked for quite a while via an online programming both in a graduate school platform and through Outschool.
4 files available upon enrollmentStudents will need # 2 pencils, sharpies extra fine, and fine, colored pencils, rulers, white drawing paper. Some of their own favorite comics for ideas to make original characters. These should be items most students have. A phone to take pictures of students work to share or a scanner is also needed for feedback.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
