(FLEX) Color Your World! Learn Color Theory Through Art Projects

In this four-week FLEX course, we will explore the fundamentals of color theory and learn how all 12 colors on the color wheel relate to each other. Learners will complete a color wheel and three art projects.

Description

Class Experience

-Knowledge of Color (Primary, Secondary, Intermediate/Tertiary, Complementary, Warm/Cool Colors)
-Knowledge of Tints, Values, and Shades
-Improved painting skills
-Improved fine motor skills
-Completion of a color wheel
-Completion of three art projects
Learners will complete one project each week.  They will be asked to upload a photo of their completed project to the classroom.  I will provide praise, encouragement, and feedback within 48 hours.
Week 1 (Color Wheel) -Printable (supplied) -Colored pencils or crayons (red, yellow, and blue) Week 2 (Caterpillar): -Completed color wheel printable for reference -Mixed medium paper (heavier weight better for paints). Recommending 9"x12". -Watercolors (red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and purple) -Pencil to lightly draw caterpillar -Black colored pencil or marker used to draw details -Paintbrush -Water container to clean brush -Small towel Week 3 (Hand): -Completed color wheel printable for reference -Pencil to draw design -8.5"x11" paper if coloring or 9"x12" mixed medium paper if painting -If coloring, crayons, markers, or colored pencils (red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and purple) -If painting, acrylic or Tempera paint (red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and purple) -If painting, apaint tray or paper plate -If painting, paintbrushes (small for details, medium for other areas) -If painting, a water container to clean brush -If painting, a small towel Week 4 (Ice Cream): -Completed color wheel printable for reference -Mixed medium paper (heavier weight better for paints). Recommending 9"x12". -Acrylic or Tempera paint (one color and it's complement, white, black) -Paint tray or paper plate -Paintbrush -Pencil to draw design -Scissors -White school glue -Black marker -Water container to clean brush -Small towel -Any embellishments learners would like to add to their painting
