This 4 week flexible schedule course will guide students through the steps necessary to personalize their YouTube channel, learn to record, edit, create a thumbnail and upload their first video so they can share their content on YouTube. Flexible schedule means that there are no live meetings, but students are still expected to complete assignments or projects by specific due dates and also to interact with each other in the online classroom. What this class will look like: 1. Each week, a short prerecorded video tutorial will be provided for the learner to watch. These videos will build on each other every week and it is important to complete the weekly assignment before the following week's content comes out. 2. Students will be expected to take a weekly quiz, using the platform "Kahoot". This will show me that each learner fully understands the content being presented. A link will be provided in the classroom. 3. Students will be expected to interact with each other in the online classroom by responding to at least 2 other students' comments. 4. Teacher will be active in the online classroom throughout the week and will offer tips, encouragement, and other feedback to each student. ******************************************************** WEEK 1 OBJECTIVE: Students will be expected to have already created a YouTube channel under the supervision of a parent. No content or other information is needed. A document with these instructions will be given in advance. In week 1, students will learn how to personalize their channel by getting familiar with the "customize channel" tab on their YouTube channel. Students will learn to edit their "basic info" like their channel name and description, create a profile picture, and get familiar with the layout of their channel. WEEK 1 ASSIGNMENTS: 1. Students will watch a short tutorial on how to maneuver around their YouTube channel while they watch demonstrations on how to create/change their channel name, write a description of their channel, and decide on a theme for their channel. 2. Students will answer a 5 question quiz using Kahoot. Link will be in the classroom. 3. Students will then practice what they learned from the video by personalizing their own channel and adding as much detail as they are comfortable with. 4. Students will then share a screenshot of their channel. They can pick a small portion of their channel to share, or they can take a screenshot of the entire page. 5. Students will comment on 2 or more other students' work. They can offer encouragement, congratulations, or other helpful information. ***Teacher will be active in the online classroom throughout the week and will offer tips, encouragement, and other feedback to each student. *** ******************************************************* WEEK 2 OBJECTIVE: Students will learn about different recording techniques that they can use for their YouTube channel.
