US Grade Kindergarten - 8
This course is an introduction to reptiles with a Pokémon twist. We'll study how reptiles are classified into these four orders: 🐢 Crocodilia (gharials, crocodiles, alligators, and caimans) 🐢 Testudines (turtles and tortoises) 🐢 Rhynchocephalia (tuataras) 🐢 Squamata (lizards and snakes) Along the way, we'll compare and contrast these real reptiles with the Pokémon that look and act like them. This is a self-paced course, which means there is no live component. This course contains two lessons. Each lesson has a recording (each 40-50 minutes long), extension activities to expand your learning beyond the recording, and a "Create Your Own Pokemon" project. Need a discount? Sure thing! All of my self-paced courses are "pay what you can afford." To get the discount you need, sign up for the course first, then message me with the discount you would like, and I will apply a partial refund.
Learning Goals
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
🐢 Describe how scientists classify living things into categories.
🐢 List the defining characteristics of all reptiles.
🐢 Cite some examples of reptiles from each of the four orders.
🐢 Compare and contrast their favorite reptile Pokemon with the real deal.
🐢 Describe some interesting facts about some of the more unique reptiles.

over 2 WeeksLesson 1:
Crocodiles, Turtles, and Cousins
We'll start with an introduction to taxonomy and the characteristics of reptiles. Then we will dive into exploring three orders of reptiles: Crocodilia (with Pokemon such as Krokorok and Feraligatr), Testudines (which includes Squirtle, Torterra, and more), and Testudines. When we discuss Testudines, we'll brainstorm how to create a Pokemon inspired by this unique, overlooked reptile.
