Week 1Lesson 1Neurons and HemispheresThe 40-minute recorded lesson includes: ♦ The anatomy and functioning of neurons. ♦ The effects of Pokemon-related toxins and drugs on neuron functioning. ♦ Left Hemisphere and Right Hemisphere: facts and myths. ♦ The six main parts of the brain and their individual functions. ♦ How Pokemon are related to the brain's processing of pain.Week 2Lesson 2The Frontal and Temporal LobesThe 50-minute recorded lesson includes: ♦ The Frontal Lobe and its involvement in emotions, hypnosis, smell, and speech. ♦ The Temporal Lobe and its involvement in memory, understanding speech, and the processing of sound.Week 3Lesson 3Parietal Lobe, Occipital Lobe, Cerebellum, Brain StemThe 30-minute recorded lesson includes: ♦ The Cerebellum and its involvement in balance and coordination. ♦ The Brain Stem and its involvement in sleep. ♦ The Parietal Lobe and its involvement in reading, writing, and hallucinations. ♦ The Occipital Lobe and its involvement in photosensitivity and illusions. ♦ A "create your own Pokémon" project.
By the end of the course, students should be able to: ♦ Describe how neurons operate when sending signals throughout the brain and body. ♦ Define these terms: neuron, neurotoxin, neurotransmitter, lobe. ♦ Understand the basic functions of each lobe in the brain. ♦ Identify how certain Pokemon can use their abilities to manipulate the brain through neurotoxins, illusion, hypnosis, and other means.
