If it is adventure your learns seek, this is the book for them! "Kensuke's Kingdom" by Michael Morpurgo is an exciting adventure story about a boy who goes overboard from his parent's sail boat, and finds himself marooned on an island with his dog. He must lean to survive, but then discovers that he is not alone! This is a moderate-paced course designed for younger students. The reading in this course will increase learners' vocabularies and improve comprehension skills. During this course, learners will read assigned chapters each week. There will also be homework including worksheets and writing assignments. 
The reading in this course will increase learners' vocabularies and improve comprehension skills. During this course, learners will read assigned chapters write in a reading response journal. Each week in the online classroom, I will facilitate a  discussion about the previous chapters read. Students will respond to discussion questions as well as respond to at least two other student's thoughts. They may share what they wrote in the journals, (if they choose to). For each class day listed below, students are required to have their reading done by the end of the week. With each chapter set there is a response journal question for learners to complete. Worksheets will be uploaded to be completed for each chapter set as well. These will cover vocabulary and comprehension. Additionally, I will link a Kahoot quiz game for each chapter set to test learners knowledge. We will conclude with an essay writing or video presentation project of student's choice: persuasive, personal analysis, or a character analysis.
