1 hour per week. Each week learners will be expected to complete an assignment. It may be a worksheet, an interactive activity or a reflection of the material presented that week. All learners are encouraged to post at least once per week in the classroom.Class Experience
**Please note this is a flex (asynchronous) class. There will be no live meetings.** During this class, students will explore and enhance their knowledge of specific Executive Functioning skills and various strategies that can be utilized to support their growth, development, and self-confidence. Students will learn about strategies that can be easily implemented, in various situations and environments, to support their continued development of executive functioning skills. Learner-to-learner interaction is encouraged throughout the class with opportunities for classroom posts and replies, ongoing and engaging dialogue, activities, videos, games, as well as some google slides, and worksheets to help learners understand the concepts being taught. Each week on Sunday, the teacher will introduce the topic for that week. Learners will then receive a link to a video, slides or notes, and the weekly task that they will complete prior to the Saturday of that same week. Learners are expected to post their finished assignment either in the classroom or, through a private message to the teacher, through Outschool. This class is designed to be interactive so the more you put in (posting, replying, sharing, asking questions, completing the weekly assignment) the more you'll get out of it. The class will be structured as follows: Each Sunday - The weekly topic is introduced. The video link, any notes or slides will be posted in the classroom. Each Monday and Tuesday - Learners will have an opportunity to review all posted materials and post any questions or reflections from the previously posted materials, within the classroom. The teacher is available to review posts, messages, and/or questions. Each Wednesday - The teacher will post a reflection question in the classroom, from the weekly material. Learners are encouraged to reply to the question and/or to other learners' replies/reflections. Each Thursday and Friday - The teacher is available to review posts, messages, and/or questions. Each Saturday - The weekly assignment is to be handed in via the classroom or by private messaging the material to the teacher. The weekly skill-targeted areas are as follows: Week 1 - What is Executive Functioning? Week 2- Planning and Prioritizing Week 3- Organization Week 4 - Time Management Week 5 - Task Initiation Week 6 - Working Memory Week 7 - Metacognition Week 8 - Emotional (Self) Regulation Week 9 - Sustained Attention and Focus Week 10 - Flexibility Week 11- Perseverance Week 12 -"Keys to Success" craft activity Learners need no prior knowledge to attend this flex class.
