Class Experience

In The Footsteps of: Vincent van Gogh, students will step into the life of the artist through the work he left behind. Students will explore inventions, cultures and other artists who influenced Vincent van Gogh as a person and as an artist. In a weekly uploaded video, students will learn basic painting techniques, terminology, perspective and how to apply it to their own unique art piece. We will be studying specific art pieces he created throughout his life and the story behind the art.

Being a Flex Class, students participate when it works with their schedule. Each week will include an uploaded video demonstrating a new lesson, in a step-by-step format including a demonstration of the materials and clean-up techniques. Weekly, discussion questions will be posted to the classroom page. Students will share their finished art piece with the class via the classroom page each week. Discussion questions will be added to the classroom weekly to encourage a deeper understanding of materials and our artist.

Weekly Sharing of Finished Art Pieces:
Students will share their weekly masterpiece with the class along with a summary of their finished piece including a title, meaning of the art piece and how they used the materials. This can be a video presentation or attached images with a written description.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an illustrator, artist, teacher, business owner, and a pug mom. I have a degree in Illustration, a visual art minor with 20 years of teaching experience. I believe that knowledge is power and the more you know the greater your influence can be. Learning should be fun and individual. Even when my students are looking at the same picture for painting class, their work is very individual and unique to them and I love that part of the creative process. We are all learners and we should celebrate each other on the Journey!
