Description
Class Experience
The main goal of this course is for students to gain a confidence while working in the kitchen. We will cover a variety of methods and types of recipes.Students will learn four new recipes they will independently prepare. They will have opportunities to share alternative ingredients for the recipes which will increase their cooking repetoire.
One of my favorite places to be is my kitchen!
Because this is a flex class, learners will view videos that will guide them through the process of creating each recipe. Learners will then make their own dishes according to the instructional video. Learners should share a photo of their dishes in the classroom. Throughout the class, there will be opportunities for interaction such as, activities to review cooking terms, rate recipes, and seek guidance through class discussion boards.
A learner supply list will be posted each Monday morning. Week One Supply List 1 loaf of frozen bread dough, thawed 2 lemons 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup butter 1/2 teaspoon of lemon extract, optional 1/2 cup powdered sugar Glass 8x8 baking dish Small mixing bowl Plastic wrap Spoon and butter knife Cutting board Plate Hand held grater or zester Measuring cups and spoons
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will be asked to share a photo of their completed recipes. The teacher will give informal feedback throughout the class duration.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
While we are learning and practicing basic kitchen and cooking skills, parents may need to assist. Learners will be required to use the microwave, oven, and stove. For a few recipes, learners will be required to use a knife to cut food items.
Learners may need to access the internet or other informational source to find fun facts about the foods we are preparing.
