Description
Class Experience
In this class, students will create their own ancient clay pieces using a variety of tools and techniques including paddling and burnishing with a stone to experience how ancient cultures created pottery while learning about ancient cultures and their use of pottery. Each day, students will create an art piece using a variety of basic clay techniques including pinch, and coil. On the last day of class, students will paint their clay pieces using painting patterns and techniques from ancient...
Day 1-3 2.5-5lbs of Air Dry Clay (Crayola has a great product) Clay tools or (sharp pencil, popsicle stick) Small dry sponge Rolling Pin Wooden Spoon (without slots or holes) Table Covering Cup with water Fluffy Yarn (around 1/4” thick) Scissors White school glue Polished rock or smooth stone (glass stones can also work) Day 4 Acrylic paint Pencil Paint brushes Cup with water Table covering Clay pieces from previous 3 weeks
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will be using scissors to cut yarn. Please be aware that students may need assistance for their safety, if not comfortable with scissors. Some clay tools can be sharp, please look at them prior to class.
