Class Experience
Introduction to cereals and packaging. Students will learn about the importance of packaging and what should be included in a cereal box. Students will create their cereal brand, logo, and mascot designs for their cereal box. Demonstrate an understanding of the design concept.
The instructor will supply: Cereal Box Template Pieces: Mascot, Brand, Logo, and Bowl Mazes Nutrition Labels Materials for printing and creating your cereal box: Paper Size: A4 Cardstock & Cardboard Paper scissors glue/tape coloring pencils/markers/crayons For homemade corn flakes learners will need: Cornmeal (medium / fine) Water Sugar Measuring Cup / Spoons Digital Scales Stove Top Metal Skillet Pan Metal Spatula Ziploc Bags
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Youtube: The lesson videos are recorded and uploaded onto youtube. The teacher will post the youtube link to the classroom. Google Forms: In Week 2 and week 4, there will be multiple choice quizzes created in Google Forms. To protect learners' privacy, learners' email addresses will not be shared with the teacher or with the other students. The quizzes are automatically marked at the completion of the quiz. Learners are welcome to post their quiz results to the classroom. Students will not need to create a Youtube or Google account in order to participate. Parents should be close by to help with cutting, or printing of the materials for the cereal box as well as with food prep such as cutting or transferring hot food. The cornflake recipe is 100% modifiable to accommodate learners with food allergies and dietary lifestyles.
