Class Experience

Each week, students will be guided to draw a new holiday drawing. Each Monday, I will upload a recording to the classroom. I will start each recording with fun holiday facts, accompanied by pictures. I will then give step-by-step instructions on how to create the weekly drawing. During each recording, I have two screens visible so that students can see me drawing, as well as speaking. This will allow learners to follow along with my instructions. I will break each step down, so artists of all levels are welcome! Students will have the ability to pause each recording, as they need.

Students can replicate my drawing or add their own unique elements. I will also discuss ideas for the background. After completing their drawing, students can color in their drawing with the medium of their choice, such as crayons, markers, or colored pencils.

Week 1 (19 minutes + coloring time)
I will spend a few minutes discussing fun Turkey facts. I will then spend about 15 minutes demonstrating how to draw Baby Yoda in a turkey costume. I will include some additional turkey facts as we draw. How many feathers does a turkey have? What is a baby turkey called? At the end of the recording, I will ask students to upload their finished pictures to the classroom. Learners will also share a recipe for one of their favorite Thanksgiving dishes. Learners will comment on each other's posts.

Week 2 (35 minutes + coloring time)
I will start the weekly recording with a short history of the Thanksgiving Day Parade. The history will include pictures of popular balloons and floats over the years. Next, I will give step-by-step instructions on how to draw Pikachu and Snoopy. Once the balloons are complete, we will draw a city building, using a two-point perspective drawing method. A ruler or straight edge is recommended. Learners will upload their finished pictures to the classroom. They will also share a memory of watching this year's or a past Thanksgiving parade.

Week 3
I will start the weekly recording by sharing some fun facts about Christmas trees! I will then demonstrate how to draw Baby Yoda, wearing a Santa hat, in a Christmas gift under a Christmas tree. Students will write a collaborative story about a Christmas tree. I will write the initial sentence for the story. A student will write a second sentence. The next student will write a third, and so on. The story can continue to grow until the following week.

Week 4
I will start the weekly recording with some fun facts about toys as Christmas gifts! I will then demonstrate how to draw Pikachu dressed as an elf. Students will write a short poem, describing the best Christmas gift they've given or received. Students will comment on each other's poems.

How does a “Flexible Schedule” course work?
There are no live sessions. A new recording is uploaded to the classroom each week, giving your learner the ability to work at their own pace. Discussions with the teacher take place via the classroom message board or private message.
