Homework
1 hour per week. Homework will consist of weekly activities and exercises that will take an average of 1-2 hours per week. These will include writing reflections, creating action plans, and practicing new habits.
Assessment
Learner progress will be assessed based on participation in class discussions, completion of homework assignments, and regular check-ins with the instructor. No formal grades will be given.

Class Experience

In this 16-week class, students will learn how to avoid mobile phone addiction with tips from an experienced programmer. It is important to clarify that this class is not a medical service nor does it present therapeutic outcomes. The class is designed to provide students with strategies and tips to help them avoid mobile phone addiction. The course is educational in nature and seeks to provide students with knowledge and skills to reduce their dependence on mobile phones. The course does not intend to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition. The class will cover the following topics:

Week 1: Understanding mobile phone addiction
Week 2: Recognizing the signs of mobile phone addiction
Week 3: The impact of mobile phone addiction on mental health
Week 4: The impact of mobile phone addiction on physical health
Week 5: Tips for reducing mobile phone usage
Week 6: Developing healthy phone usage habits
Week 7: Using apps and features to reduce phone usage
Week 8: Mindful mobile phone usage
Week 9: Overcoming FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)
Week 10: Finding balance with mobile phone usage
Week 11: Managing distractions caused by mobile phones
Week 12: Building relationships without relying on mobile phones
Week 13: Learning to disconnect and unwind
Week 14: The importance of sleep and reducing phone usage before bed
Week 15: Reviewing progress and developing long-term strategies
Week 16: Applying lessons learned to other areas of life

The class will be recorded and can be taken flexibly at any time. Each week, students will watch a pre-recorded video containing information and homework assignments. Students will have access to the teacher for questions and feedback, and will also have the opportunity to discuss their progress with other students.

By the end of the class, students will have a better understanding of the dangers of mobile phone addiction and practical strategies for reducing phone usage and developing healthy habits.
The flexible schedule (Recorded Flex Class) allows your learners to watch the pre-recorded videos and do them at a time that is FUN for them! You can also spend extra time on the topics your child is most interested in. Since this is a flex class with no live meetings, students can log in at a convenient time to complete the week's lesson. We will be going through each week as a group and I will post the lesson weekly (depending on which day you started).

The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week, as part of a project. 

After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps on how to improve or adapt. 
Time frame for the Week:
Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Students can submit questions.
Tuesdays - Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week.  The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the discussion.
Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom for teacher feedback and discussion. Students will discuss it among themselves.
Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students.
Saturday - Sunday - The teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week.

Please note, this class will highlight to students how much of their lives they are wasting on screens and the harmful effects this has on their minds, bodies and relationships. Some students can find the realization that they have a screen addiction problem profoundly distressing. After this class, please ensure that you speak to your child about what we have covered and be prepared to offer the support they will need to overcome their addiction. You may wish to approach local counselling services to find out what professional support is available to you. Please be aware that addiction is a problem, whether it is screen time, video games, drugs, alcohol or any other addictive behaviour. If your child identifies that they have a problem during this class please seek professional help immediately.
