Class Experience
THIS IS A FLEX CLASS, THERE ARE NO-LIVE ZOOM MEETINGS. Each week's lesson including 20-25 minute videos and worksheets will be posted every Monday and a weekly bonus activity will also be available throughout the week! 👋Welcome to this beginner ASL course for learners ages 4-9! This is an introductory beginner class. No prior ASL knowledge is needed. 🤟🏽I love learning and teaching American Sign Language and look forward to sharing my passion with all my students! This is an exciting and...
The goal of this class is for students to gain further knowledge of American Sign Language and signs, improving their ASL vocabulary, grammar, and conversation skills at their own pace throughout the week. This class will also provide students with a foundation in ASL that they can further develop.
I love learning and teaching ASL! I have taken 3 university-level ASL courses and love learning new signs and all about the deaf community and deaf culture. I also have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Studies with over 9 years of experience working with children both online and in-person from infant to high-school-age children. I strive to create engaging, personal, and interactive lessons by incorporating movement, songs, stories, games, and manipulatives into my classes and fostering a learning environment that makes learning fun for everyone!
It is encouraged that learners practice the signs we learn during the week. Videos and handouts will be available after class to help with review and practice! The more you do the signs, the easier they are to remember! If your child practices a couple of times a day, it will come more naturally.
Informal games and practice will occur throughout each class and the opportunity for learners to share a video, picture, or written post related to the theme of the class is strongly encouraged for students to interact with other learners and enable me to provide the best support possible
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
