US Grade 8 - 11
This is a Self Paced and Subscription course with no live classes. However, students will receive individual feedback on the work they submit.

AP writing can be challenging for many students. I have taught AP US History, AP European History, and US History for a local college for many years. In addition, I have years of experience rating and grading SAQs, LEQs, and DBQs. I understand how to break down the writing requirements for AP into a simple formula that is easy for students to understand and replicate when they sit down to take their AP History exam. I teach students how to maximize their points.

The DBQ is worth 25% of the AP exam. (Document Based Essay Question)

The LEQ is worth 15% of the AP exam. (Lone Essay Question_

The SAQs are worth 20% of the AP exam. (Short Answer Question)

The DBQ, LEQ, and SAQ all require a specific set of skills to maximize the points awarded. We will cover the formula necessary for each to be successful on the exam.

Schedule:

Unit 1 - Short Answer Question (SAQ)
~How to write an SAQ
~Write an SAQ

Unit 2 - Long Essay Question (LEQ)
~How to write the Intro Paragraph for the LEQ and DBQ
~LEQ Essay Format
~LEQ Practice
~Write an LEQ

Unit 3 - Document Based Essay Question (DBQ)
~What is a DBQ
~How the DBQ is Scored
~How to write the Intro Paragraph for the LEQ and DBQ
~What is HIPPing
~Earning Body Paragraph Points
~Write a DBQ

We will address a different aspect of the DBQ. Eventually, students will be able to use these classes to formulate a complete DBQ essay using the step-by-step formula we cover in class. Topics that will be covered include:

•	Analyzing Documents
•	Introduction Paragraph
        o	Context
        o	Counter Argument
        o	Thesis
•	Body Paragraphs
      o	Document Analysis
                 	Describing
                 	Supporting
                 	Sourcing
       o	Outside Information

        o	Complexity
