During this 8- week course, your child will learn safe yoga poses utilizing a yoga sling. In this exhilirating yet challenging aerial yoga class, we practice balance, twists, backbends, forward bends, inversions, and so much more.

Description

Class Experience

Students will learn the basic concepts of aerial yoga. As the session progresses, the students will be challenged to get into more complex poses, if they chose to do so, as their strength builds. Students will learn how to safely get in and out of poses, whether they be standing, kneeling or traction. Students will also learn how to breathe properly to allow their muscles to relax while in the poses. Please note poses are NOT held for a long time. Students will learn the benefits of aerial yoga while also increasing their flexibility, strength and stability.
Each week, ,students will be asked to practice the skills and lessons taught in class. It is important that the students, at first not practice alone. It is advised that a parent or older sibling be near to help them get in and out of the sling. 
Students can purchase a complete Yoga Trapeze by Yoga Body, complete with main sling, two sets of handles, carrying bag, hooks and daisy chains from me for an additional cost of $135.00 or they can order an aerial yoga kit or yoga trapeze from online stores like Amazon.
In the beginning of the session, each student will be asked to give brief demonstration of how to get in and out of the sling. This is not graded but to merely show the instructor that they understand the correct and safe ways to get in and out of the trapeze.Then at the end of the session, each student, optional, will be asked to lead a quick 5-minute aerial yoga pose sequence. This final assessment is to see if they understand the proper pose alignment cues and to see if they can lead a safe and effective yoga flow using the aerial sling.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Please be advised this is a physical class and safety is of utmost importance. Please make sure your yoga sling is securely in place and there is adequate room for the student to move around freely. Also, please do not allow sneakers or any shoes to be worn. Aerial yoga should be taught without any shoes to ensure that the students can get in and out of the sling without anything getting snagged or stuck on the material. This class is open to all (beginners, intermediate and advanced).
