*FLEX* All About the Brain, Featuring Mr. Bob, the Friendly Teaching Assistant!
What's included
Class Experience
This introductory class will go over all major structures of the brain, including the four main lobes (frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital + the brainstem). Associated functions with each of the lobes will be discussed, and a brief overview of some associated disorders will be discussed through real-life case study examples. A life-size anatomical figure (Mr.Bob) will be used in many of the classes as an extra visual guide for learners. The first class will cover the outside structures of the brain itself, and subsequent classes will cover 2 brain lobes in each class. Learners will get the chance to participate hands-on with some unique crafts and experiments designed to further supplement learners with knowledge and understanding about each part of the brain, and the important role they each have for our health and wellbeing. No prerequisite is required, this course is designed to introduce the brain to learners. Weekly Breakdown: Class 1: Overview of the brain (things that make up the brain: sulci, gyri, fissures, left/right hemisphere) Class 2: Frontal and parietal lobes Class 3: Temporal and occipital lobes Class 4: The brainstem/hindbrain (pons, medulla, cerebellum)
