Class Experience

I am a New York State certified classroom teacher, certified in English Language Arts and Students with Disabilities.
I have over 12 years of classroom teaching experience.
Students will have assigned reading to complete independently each week (please see the class description for specific pages). They will complete activities each week independently, including questions about the reading, vocabulary activities, and writing assignments.
Hard copy or digital copy of two novels: "Esperanza Rising" (by Pam Munoz Ryan) and "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" (by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer) Printables and downloadables as posted weekly in the Classroom.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No live meetings, and an estimated 4+ hours per week outside of class.
In Esperanza Rising, the main character's father is killed, and her uncle tries to pressure her mother into marrying him. He burns their house down, and they decide to move to the US to work as migrant workers. The book discusses social status and poor working conditions for migrant workers.
