Class Experience

Students will learn by working out with the instructor.
Students will learn the basics of fitness.
Students will learn the importance of life-long fitness.
Students will learn which exercises work which muscles.
Students will learn correct form and how to prevent injury.
Students will learn to push themselves, safely, in order to improve and increase their fitness level.
Students will be prepared to enter and participate seamlessly in the class: "Get Fit With A Former Marine"--this class runs live on at multiple times Tuesday thru Saturday.
As a Former Marine and fitness guy, I have made it a life-long journey to exercise and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
I impart my knowledge of exercise techniques to the younger generation in hopes to inspire the same love of fitness in them.
I like to challenge students to go beyond what they think they can do. I challenge them to have a "can do" attitude. In every case to date...if the student applies himself or herself...their fitness levels and numbers will increase--dramatically in most cases.
I gently and positively push students further than they think they can go. For example: most new students don't believe they can do 75 flutter kicks or 50 push ups. My goal is to show them otherwise and in my live classes--students do these types of exercises daily! It's not magic--just hard work and believing you can do it.
My message to students is this: If you work will feel better; your mood will improve; your overall health will improve; and you'll be able to do more things.
We do all of this in a fun, light hearted, no-pressure atmosphere.
Students will use a Fitness Journal after each class. This will take approximately 10 minutes.
Students will log entries such as how much water they drank each day; how their muscles feel--aches and pains?; strength increases; exercises they like...and why; and exercises they don't like...and why.

Sneakers (I recommend athletic shoes but most of my students are barefoot) , water bottle, and a 5X5 area of space. I also recommend a notebook or journal but journaling can also be done on a computer.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learner progress will be assessed by the student's journal observations.
Learner progress will be assessed by the increase in numbers from the Initial Fitness Test to the Final Fitness Test.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Your student will need a small, clutter-free area to perform bodyweight exercises (calisthenics).

Please provide your student with a clear, hazard free area.

Keep pets out of the area during the class for safety reasons.

Have your student wear loose fitting attire--or gym clothes--with sneakers.

Please provide your student with a bottle of water--or a cup of water--no glass cups, please.

Students may take short breaks, as needed, to catch his/her breath.

Each class will begin with a greeting, a light stretch, and a short warm-up.
