Do you love writing stories? Are you looking to start something new? If so, then this class is for you! What are Flash Fictions? Flash Fictions are a type of story writing. They touch on every aspect of a story arc, but with significantly fewer words. Given this, they push writers to work on their vocabulary and word work, while also building their story writing ability. Who is this class for? This class is open to creative writers who are excited about learning something new. Specifically, this class is great for short story writers who are looking to expand their skill set or poets who are looking to try writing stories. If your student does not fit into these categories, that's okay! As long as they understand what a story arc is-i.e. exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, conclusion-they will be able to enjoy this class and follow the material. What will be covered in this class? In this class, we will talk about what a flash fiction is, the skills needed to write them, and look at some examples of published flash fictions. Then, we will look at several daily exercises for the student's journals, to help them practice writing flash fictions. Next, we will complete a multi-part writing exercise to walk the students through writing their own flash fictions. Finally, we will edit those flash fictions. Our goal is to complete this class with every student having a finished flash fiction and a whole bag of new skills! See a breakdown below for a tentative schedule of this class. First Class: We will cover the mechanics of writing a flash fiction. Second class: We will finish any material we did not finish in the first class. Then, we will move on to completing the writing exercise. Third: We will finish the writing exercise and edit the completed pieces. If you are interested in participating in this course but the time doesn't work for you, please let me know what CST time and day you are interested in. I will do my best to accommodate your student's schedule.

Hi everyone! I am Teacher KerrieAnn. Here at Outschool, I enjoy teaching a variety of English classes ranging from skill-specific classes to overall improvement.
I enjoy teaching the skills I learned through my B.S. from Middle Tennessee State University. I studied how to write fiction pieces ranging from poetry and short stories all the way to novels. Given this, I love to teach students how to write their preferred type of fiction while also encouraging them to try something new. I also enjoy teaching students how to develop their writing "toolbox" and grow through the process of storytelling!
Given that I am a writer myself, my classroom environment is founded on mutual respect. Meaning, it is an encouraging, kind, and fun environment to discover and learn within.
I hope that my classes will strike new interests and passions that students can share with others and use to grow their wealth of knowledge.
