Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
Join us to learn basic grammar with Fix It! Grammar: Nose Tree. This is grammar curriculum from the Institute for Excellence in Writing. Nose Tree is level one of the six year course published by the Institute for Excellence in Writing. This book is designed for learners in grades 3-5. Each week the book provides four sentences for the learner to edit and correct using skills learned in Nose Tree. In class the teacher will teach the new concept. The learners in the class will together correct sentence number one. The teacher will give the learners five minutes to work on their own to correct sentence number two. The entire class will then correct the sentence together. The learner will correct sentences three and four on their own during the week. During the next class the teacher will go over sentences three and four from the previous lesson to make sure learners have corrected their sentences properly. The students will then rewrite the corrected sentences at home during the week.

Learners will correct errors in passages each week that tell a whole story. The learner needs to have completed Weeks 1-15 in a previous class or on their own at home.

Below outlines what a typical week for your learner in this class will look like.

Check sentences 3 & 4 from previous lesson
