    Profile
    Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Special Education
Master's Degree in Varying Exceptionalities from Central Florida State University
I have been teaching ELA since 2001, and I have experience working with elementary, junior high, high school, and college students. I am a retired teacher. I still teaching English and Braille.

    About me
I have been an English teacher since 2001, and I have experience with elementary school, middle school, dual enrollment, and college, and currently I am enjoying my empty nest with reading, teaching, landscaping, and my lovely grandson, who is 5 14 years old. I have taught mainstream, remedial, and special education classes in self-contained and inclusive settings.

I have bachelor's in philosophy and master's degrees in various exceptionalities from the beautiful Caribbean Island Puerto Rico Commonwealth and
    sunshine Florida State Universities.

I believe that everyone can learn and that how much you learn often depends much on the amount of effort you're willing to invest. To that end, I try to encourage and motivate my students to have a can-do attitude and a growth mindset. In part, that means that both the learner and the instructor may have to look for outside-the-box ways to approach a topic in order to make it more accessible.

For fun, I enjoy designing and decorating, being outdoors. I love nature, wildlife, and hiking. I also enjoy spending time at home watching instructional programs, writing, reading, and sewing. Every so often I take a class in something I've never done before just as a prevention for Alzheimer and to remind myself what it feels like to be new to a topic. For this reason, I got my certification in Braille 1 & 2 from North Technical University of Central America, Ibarra, Ecuador. This helps value the great potential of each student and respect for my learners who are not yet experts in my content area. Also, it keeps me modest, humble and thoughtful of creative ways to reach my learners. We all have limitations and creative ways to surpass them. Motto: Convert a problem into a solution.
