Class Experience

Welcome players! In this story, we woke up in a strange dream world after spending the whole night playing video games!. We noticed that we were in a location related to the Five Nights at Freddy's video game (which is the game we had been playing!). We are trying to understand more about this world and figure out a way to wake up! Do you have what it takes to escape?

Course Overview: Participants will follow a fictional story transforming them into friends attempting to survive and escape a dream world that is based on the FNAF franchise. Participants will work together solving riddles, looking for keys, fixing things, and figuring out codes in order to escape. During the first 3 minutes of our session, we will talk about class expectations, and do a small icebreaker. Participants will have a chance to talk about their favorite things related to FNAF and show off any merchandise they have! Then, the next 5 minutes will be spent going over what a virtual escape room is and how our escape room will work. Finally, we will spend the rest of the session on the actual Escape room :)

--- Note ---
This game is based on the Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) franchise. It is important to note that although the Escape room has components of FNAF, at no point will we be playing the original game. Also, the session is supposed to last about 55 minutes. However, there is a possibility that we may go over the planned time. The length depends on how quickly participants can solve the mystery. I will be guiding everyone all throughout and monitoring the whole session!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their critical thinking skills, develop their social skills, and practice working in a group. This is also a great opportunity for students to build their confidence while talking about something they love!

Parental Guidance
This class includes themes that may be frightening to some students. The themes discussed include violence, death, and gore. To add on, some of the images/videos shown during the escape room can be frightening and or disturbing to some. I highly encourage parents who would like their child to participate in the class to do their diligent research on the Five Nights at Freddy's series to determine if they find it appropriate for their children. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Houston-Downtown
Hello! Thank you for considering me :)

My name is Stephanie.

My background:

I have a bachelor's degree in education from the university of Houston-Downtown in Texas, and a TEFL certification. I have been on Outschool for the past three years and worked with students ranging from 3-18 years of age. I used to work with two different ESL Companies, as well as a therapy clinic for children with autism and ADHD. I teach English, Spanish, and other topics that I am passionate about.

What I do:

I have specialized in the art of creating/running escape rooms. I enjoy tying these escape rooms with educational topics! They help students build their social skills, critical/logical thinking skills, and confidence. Plus, students get the opportunity to learn and talk about topics they love!

What I believe in:

I believe that encouragement, patience, and freedom of expression are essential in every classroom. It's no secret that students learn differently, and that education is the key to the future. So, I want to make sure every student is comfortable in class, has their needs met, and has an equal opportunity to speak/participate!

How I got into education:

My journey in becoming a teacher began when I was a lot younger and would babysit my neighbors' kids. I often helped them out with their homework assignments and slowly realized that I enjoyed doing so. I had always been told by my peers and my family that I should consider being a teacher but, I had never given it a second thought until my senior year of high school when I had a fantastic teacher who completely changed my life. From that moment, I was inspired to become a teacher and do the same for others.

I look forward to positively impacting your child :)

Some things I love:

• I love to read! (Some of my favorite books include Harry potter and Wings of fire)
• I love video games! (Especially Nintendo games!)
• My Favorite movie is "Encanto"

Thanks for reading, I am excited to see you in class!!!
