Description

Class Experience

Overall, the learner will learn more about how to move their body! As we improve our form with different exercises we have better knowledge of how our body actually moves! When we have a better knowledge and understanding of how our bodies move, we are able to do a wider variety of exercises.
I am a certified Exercise Physiologist with American College of Sports Medicine and I have my B.S. in Physical Education, emphasis in Fitness and Wellness from Grand Valley State University. Over the years I have gained a lot of experience working with a variety of ages and abilities. I have greatly enjoyed working with young learners as they progress in their abilities during physical activity! 
The homework will vary from learner to learner. Overall, they will need to practice what they have learned in the sessions. 
To start, we will be working with body weight exercises. As the learner progress we can use what fitness equipment you already own. If you are interested in buy equipment for the learner, please let me know and I can make sure recommendations after I have met with the learner to see what their abilities are and to learn about their goals. If you do not have any fitness equipment and are not interested in buying any, that is fine too! There is a lot to be learned with just body weight exercises!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
Please ensure that the learner is dress appropriately and has an adequate amount of space to move. The learner should be able to take a couple steps to each side, as well as a couple steps forward and backwards. We will also be jumping up in different motions. Shoes should be worn if the learner needs extra support on their feet. If the learner is on a hardwood or tile surface than they should either be barefoot or in shoes, as it is a slipping hazard to be in socks. If they are on a hard surface I would suggest a workout mat for the exercises we will be doing laying down. As with any workout or physical activity please have a water bottle available to drink during the session. After the class please have the learn take a moment to stretch out their muscles. I also offer classes on stretching if you are unsure about what they should be doing. As with all exercise, there is a risk of injury. Please ensure that your learner is ready for physical activity. If they need to stop and rest during an exercise that is okay! I just ask that they try and I hope that they have some fun doing so! If you have any questions please send me a message. Thank you.
