Fitness for Gymnastics, Cheer, Dance, and Martial Arts (Age 10-15)

In this ongoing course, students will workout with conditioning exercises that come from gymnastics training. Athletes of all kinds can take this class, gymnastics experience is welcome but not needed.

Class Experience

Watch any gymnastics competition, and it's hard to disagree: Gymnastics requires a level of fitness and body control unparalleled in sport. In this intense full-body training session, your teen or tween athlete will perform a typical gymnastics fitness routine that includes aerobic, body weight, balance, upper, lower, and core body exercises. This high energy, fast-paced workout is designed for young athletes who would like to improve their coordination, agility, and strength.

Each class will be broken down into five 8-minute segments, with a few minutes for chit-chat at the beginning and end.
1. Warm-up circuit
2. Circuit 1
3. Circuit 2
4. Circuit 3
5. Cool down including yoga for breath and flexibility

Students will improve their physical fitness and learn exercises typically done by gymnasts.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
As with any sport or fitness routine, gymnastics carries a risk of injury. Minimize this risk with a clear, open space appropriate clothing, and adult supervision.
Supply List
Yoga mat, foam floor, or other flat cushioned surface
Sturdy chair
Step stool or 8-12 inch tall firm block
Floor parallel bars ("Grip handles" or "Push-up handles" for $15-$20 or preferred "Parrallette bars" for $40-$50)
Water bottle
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
