Class Experience

Through easy to follow routines, students will get a full body workout. Each session will include low to moderate impact cardiovascular warm ups, Pilates inspired core training, resistance band strength exercises, and yoga inspired flexibility and stability cool downs. I will emphasize the importance of form and safety with each exercise and teach the “form, not fast” ideal. Each session will end with a few minutes of guided relaxation.

Also, I will remind the students of the importance of good hydration and basic, sensible nutrition. Between meetings, I will post recipe ideas and encouraging notes/pictures. In this class, weight loss will not be a topic of focus. Rather, healthy physical habits and good nutrition choices will be encouraged. 

For this class, students will need a good space to move around in, either on the carpeted floor or an exercise mat. They will use resistance bands with handles, (also called tension ropes) and a small pillow or rolled up towel. Students can wear comfortable tennis shoes or go barefoot. 

Parents, please make sure your student has a safe area to participate in this class, in which they will have enough room to move around without hitting any furniture or walls. They can be barefoot or wear no- slip shoes. Also, please instruct your student to follow along with the ques from the teacher for doing movements safely and properly. The teacher will remind students of safe practices in each meeting.

Supply List
Comfortable clothes, no slip shoes (or barefoot), resistance band (tension rope), small pillow or rolled up towel, exercises mat (not necessary if participating on carpeted floor). Students should have water near by during class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching yoga for 13 years and am currently working toward certification in Pilates Training. I was raised by health/fitness savvy parents. My Mother taught aerobics classes in the 80's, and is a nurse. My father studied physical therapy and was a powerlifter /instructor and a football coach in the 80's.  He studied martial arts in the 80s and 90s. He taught me weight training, distance running and yoga in my teen years. I have studied Tai Chi, Belly Dancing and Aikido as well. I have a degree in Massage Therapy and Holistic Health Studies.
