Class Experience

This ongoing class for 3rd to 5th grade, teaches healthy lifestyles through four pillars: recharge, mood, food, and move.
Your child will:
- connect with other students
- participate in engaging age appropriate health lessons
- watch short interactive slideshows and videos
- move their body for 20 minutes with fun, creative physical fitness activities and games
- participate in discussions that support social and emotional learning and healthy development
- play a fun social game at the end of class

I also offer this class for grades kindergarten - 2nd grade.

MOVE
Daily physical activity is essential for a healthy body. MOVE many times, many ways, and in many places throughout the day. The first 20 minutes of class is geared to getting up and moving.
Activities such as:
-Rock, Paper, Scissors Movement
-Among We - fitness game themed after the popular game
-Drum Fitness
-Holiday themed activities (if parents choose)
-beach ball workout
- Zumba / Dance
- light weight training (with soup cans)
- and more!

RECHARGE
Your energy level influences the choices you make. RECHARGE by finding healthy screen-free ways to relax and by getting the restorative sleep your body needs.

MOOD
Emotions influence behaviors of not just yourself but others too. Feelings and emotions put you in a MOOD, and your MOOD influences your choices.

FOOD
FOOD is fuel for your body and brain. Make healthy food and beverage choices by reducing sugar consumption and increasing fruit and vegetable consumption.

End each class with a social game (social emotional learning) and to get to know our classmates better.

About Sanford Fit
Stanford Fit is a health activation program from Sanford Health, developed to empower children and parents to make healthy lifestyle choices that help prevent childhood obesity.

The Fit platform was developed using a combination of the latest scientific and behavioral research designed to educate, motivate, and inspire children of all ages to live a balanced, healthy lifestyle.

It is all about fun, that is my teaching style! If students have fun while learning, they will want to practice healthy habits outside of class. I will teach with positive specific feedback when connecting with the learners. Learning activities include: games, fitness exercises, video clips, discussions, slideshows, printable (no need to print, can have paper and pencil and follow along digitally). Students will be connecting and learning about healthy choices in fun, educational, and active way.
