Class Experience

Each class features kid-friendly and fun exercise routines based on various proper circuit exercises and other fun fitness workouts. Each week log into the class and although its a self-paced schedule the pre-taped 20-25 minute workout feels live and students join in and workout with me. Communication and checking in about the class are done through the classroom chat.

I break down the exercises clearly and easily during the recording while adding games and activities that even mix in a bit of nutritional science.

This class integrates aerobic fitness with muscular endurance and flexibility activities.

I encourage weekly questions and interaction between students during the fitness program utilizing the classroom board. Learners can share their workout, including their numbers for a 1 minute CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK (CHOW) which they can do everyday if they choose. We, however, do not compete against each other in these classes as everyone is at a different level or has a different goal. Students are encouraged to share their workout details and goals with me through the classroom board and I am available for encouragement and feedback throughout the week.

I will often share ways of making an exercise a little harder or easier if I notice someone who needs that. Included in the workout is a warm-up and cool-down activity. I also incorporate 15 to 30 second rests between each activity, or at least active rests.

The self-paced schedule allows students the ability to watch the workout when it works into their schedule. I am also available through classroom board chats to discuss any ideas or entertain workout requests. Students are also encouraged to create an exercise request list or their own challenge for classmates and share those through pictures of videos on the classroom board.

Each week the CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK, CHOW will be a short 1 minute additional video sharing what that week's extra challenge is. Students can share a chart showing which days they completed the CHOW and leave comments of encouragement for each other to help encourage interaction for the FLEX class. Students may post on the classroom Board to give encouragement to classmates. Students will also be encouraged to submit their own challenges for classmates. Again, everyone is at a different level of athleticism, so this is not a contest but a support system and a way of integrating interaction between teacher/student and student/student.

Two videos a week will be shared for students, creating at least 8 different workouts during this self-paced class.

I am extremely passionate about athletics and fitness. Currently, I am a top US Dragon Boat paddler who runs and works out in a boxing training gym everyday. I also have been a volunteer youth coach on the baseball field, on the soccer field and at camps for more than 20 years. I have ran more than 20 marathons (some faster than others, LOL) and definitely have years of competition as a top rower in college and after. My favorite thing about working out is PLAYING! I am good at it and enjoy sharing that fun with kids.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Parents must understand child's ability and help ensure proper environment for exercises. All exercises should top at any time the student feels too tired or pain and parents must encourage proper water breaks and nutrition based on a child's personal health background since the teacher does not know any of that. Parents exercising with students is recommended and a lot of fun too!
Supply List
Water bottle and optional towel and mat. A ball, like a soccer ball, is good to have for a couple of the workouts too but not mandatory.
