Description

Class Experience

This is an introductory class about a specific fish - steelheads (aka rainbow trout) using slideshow, interactive worksheets, and videos. Steelheads are a remarkable species of fish because they can live in rivers and migrates to the ocean. (Only rainbow trout live in fresh water.) We will discuss their life cycle, diet, habitat (freshwater & saltwater), identify the body parts, classification (vertebrates-carnivores), lifespan (up to 8 years), and speed (like a racecar 25 mph in a second!)....

Learners will understand the difference between a steelhead and a rainbow trout, classify it, identify the body parts (fins), complete the lifecycle, how long they can live and fast they can swim.

Learners will NOT need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

"Raise hand" - Zoom offers a way for students to digitally raise their hands. Students can click the ‘Participants‘ button to expand the participants panel. At the bottom of this panel, there is a button called “raise hand.” Students can use this button to get my attention if they are muted.  We mute the class because there is often times feedback from different mics and noises in the background that can make it a challenge to hear clearly. Headsets work well, but not required.  A quiet background, a quiet place in home, truly helps all who are in the class to hear and is super-duper appreciated.
