In this class, students will follow a step by step demonstration from the teacher to create their very own fish in a bowl. We will begin by drawing our design on cardboard and then tracing the outline with glue and string. We will then cover the cardboard with tin foil, and using a cloth, we will carefully press down on the tin foil and watch as our artwork slowly becomes 3D. During the second half of the class, students will collaborate with one another to brainstorm and discuss additional objects or ideas that could be added to the artwork. Throughout the rest of the class, students will have the creative freedom to follow along with the teacher while also adding their own creative touch and "spin" to their tin foil art if they so choose! For the rest of the class time, students will learn different techniques on how to add color and depth to their tin foil art using permanent markers. We will spend time coloring, and we will finish up the class by showing each other our finished masterpieces!

Supply List
Students will need: - Cardboard (cut out into a 10x10" square) - A pencil - String or yarn - Scissors - Glue (craft glue works best, but glue sticks work too!) - Tin foil (I would recommend having an adult tear the tin foil (about 12"x12") prior to class so we don't have to worry about the sharp edges on the side of the box) - Tape - A small towel (dish towel, paper towel, etc.) - Colorful permanent markers - Table cloth or scrap paper (this is optional, but since students will be using glue and permanent markers, a table cloth is recommended!)

Hello! My name is Arica and I am a K-8 substitute teacher located in Boston. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan with a major in Art and Design, and I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Elementary Education at Northeastern University.
I have been an artist for almost ten years now, and I have years of experience teaching art to children at summer camps and at after school programs.
I am a passionate and enthusiastic art teacher, who loves helping children explore and find their creative side. I believe in the importance of pushing and encouraging students to reach their full potential, while also making sure each student feels supported. I plan to teach a variety of art classes, ranging from simple, fun crafts to classes focused on different painting techniques and skills.
During my free time, I love painting with acrylics (especially dog portraits!), traveling and exploring new places, and spending too much time at Target.
