In this 2-day course learners will be introduced to many idioms, also called figurative speech, which is a group of words or a phrase which has a different meaning than that of the actual words spoken.

Class Experience

This class supports Common Core State Standards:  CC.K.SL.3, CC.1.SLT.3, CC.2.SL.3, CC.3.SL.3, CC.4.SL.3, CC.5.SL.3
Students will learn:
1. To ask and answer questions about what a speaker says in order to clarify the meaning.
2. To ask and answer questions to clarify comprehension, gather additional information, or deepen understanding.
3. Be able to offer appropriate elaboration and detail.
4. Identify the evidence a speaker provides to support better comprehension.
5. Summarize the points a speaker makes and explain meaning.
No homework will be assigned.  If student is not able to complete an activity during a class session, they may choose to complete it on their own.
 7 files available upon enrollment
Materials needed for class: Worksheets downloaded and printed (pdf provided prior to class) pencil crayons or colored pencils scissors glue stick
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There will be no formal assessment.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
