Class Experience

Coding and programming help us communicate with technology, and in this 5-day interactive class, your child will take their first steps into the world of robotics with Botley!
Through coding challenges, children will develop problem-solving, sequencing, and logical thinking skills—essential for STEM learning! Each day, they’ll build coding confidence by planning precise movements and learning how the right order and exact instructions are crucial to programming successfully.
No robot is required, as interactive worksheets will reinforce their learning. Laminating the sheet or printing multiple copies is recommended for extra practice!
Each session, we’ll review previous concepts, introduce new movement commands like Right, Left, Forward, Backward, and Transmit, and encourage children to plan and execute a full sequence in one transmission—just like real programmers!
Children will also have the opportunity to help guide and explain challenges to their peers, strengthening teamwork and communication skills. Botley follows a programming style similar to Beebot, used in many schools, making this a great way to extend classroom learning through an engaging experience.
This class is interactive, and your child will be encouraged to participate as they feel comfortable. A minimum of 2 students is required to run this class.
If you don’t see a session that fits your schedule, please reach out—I’m happy to find a time that works for us both!

Learning Goals

By the end of these sessions, your child will be able to understand that an algorithm is a set of instructions, program a toy by inputting a sequence of commands/codes, and predict how different sequences lead to different outcomes.
