Just a note ~~ This course is rigorus by design, algebraically heavy, and should be taken to help prepare for calculus. Students signed up for this course should have successfully taken algebra I, geometry, and algebra II. We will go over the first semester of precalculus. This course will allow learners to be interactive, and will include assignments/assessments along the way. Assignments will come with a key, so learners may check for understanding as they go. I will also upload a copy of...
This class is taught in English.
Learners will be able to apply algebraic reasoning and processes to advanced, and complex, problems. Learners will have been exposed to advanced algebraic practices and will be better prepared for calculus.
I left a career in broadcast news to become a teacher, and I have never looked back. As a result, I have earned an MS in Secondary Education (math-focused), and an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction. I have experience as an independent tutor, an AVID tutor, a public school teacher, and a classical charter school teacher. I have been in education since 2010, and am grateful to have taught many mathematics topics along the way. My past classes include; Geometry, PAP Geometry, Algebra II, PAP Algebra II, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB/BC, Precalculus, PAP Algebra I, and Remedial Algebra I.
Assignments will be provided after every class meeting. These assignments will be optional, but highly encouraged. I will do my best to make time during class to go over some of the questions, but the majority of the assignments will be done independently outside of class time.
Pencil Paper Graphing Calculator - I will be using a TI84
I will be providing weekly quizzes, and unit assessments as the class progresses. These will be optional, but highly encouraged. I love looking at how learners progress, and I am happy to grade assessments by hand. I will give the assessment back to the learner for review. Please let me know if you require a specific type of assessment report or documentation, I am happy to oblige!
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
