Students will learn to have basic conversations in Mandarin Chinese including: Ask for someone's name and age, count in Chinese, tell who is in your family, identify animals, talk about which colors you like and what skills you can do. Class content is delivered using visuals and practiced using games and activities such as matching games and question/answer exercises between student-student and student-teacher. Videos and digital flashcards are provided for additional practice outside of class. Assignments may include practicing a specific phrase with a family member at home or recording yourself saying vocabulary words. Character writing sheets are provided for those who would like to participate in the writing portion. (Available in both simplified [China/Singapore] and traditional Chinese [Taiwan/HongKong]).
