Want a unique way to look at fashion and women's history? Let's draw our Travel Girl character as she attends inaugural balls. The five dresses and hair styles will be inspired by former First Ladies Kennedy, Obama, Trump and more.
Class experience
As a follow-up to our "American Women & Election" drawing camp, students will continue to celebrate the American presidential election by drawing a First Lady character at an inaugural ball. For the first four days of the camp, students will look at photos and be inspired to draw similar dresses and hairstyles; but by the last day of camp, students should have more confidence to draw a more personalized character. Students will develop an appreciation for First Ladies and Inaugural Balls as they relate to fashion. Also, students will improve their drawing ability by using common shapes to create and personalize Travel Girl characters.
Homework Offered
Students may complete the "Travel Girl's Diary" worksheet and write about "a day in the life" of their travel girl.Assessments Offered
If requested, student can receive an informal assessment of the final drawing and completed homework.Grades Offered
