Does your child love Mario and all of his friends? Would they benefit from more practice with learning their sight words? In this ongoing class we will focus on three sight words per week. Your child will learn how to spell, write, and read each of the first grade sight words through fun, interactive activities using Nearpod. We will also practice creating sentences using the sight words of focus. It is important that your child knows all of their letter names and how to form each letter so that they are able to write each of our sight words. Hello and welcome to my classroom; I am so excited to meet you! Since I was little, I have always had a passion for learning, and I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I began my teaching career by working as a paraeducator, working with students on math and reading skills in a small group setting. I loved my job, but eventually moved on to teach kindergarten for three and a half years. After having our first son, I decided to become a stay-at-home mom. Awhile after having our second son, I started to miss teaching, and wanted to get back into it somehow. So, I started working as an online ESL teacher, and I have been doing that for almost two years now. This job showed me how great the online teaching environment can be and helped me develop skills that I can bring into my classroom.
Being a mom of two little boys, and a former kindergarten teacher, I have a lot of experience in working with younger students, and you will find that most of my classes are geared toward those ages. As a teacher, I will focus on the foundational skills that are necessary in your child's learning as they continue to grow as learners. In my classroom you will find a lot of classes that focus on early math skills like color recognition, sorting, making patterns, addition, and subtraction. I will also be offering classes that focus on early reading skills that are foundational for your child to develop as a reader. These skills include letter names, letter sounds, rhyming words, and blending.
I believe that learning should be fun, and I will do my best to ensure your child has fun while learning in my classes. I think that parent and teacher communication is very important in a child's learning as well, and as your child's teacher I will communicate your child's successes after each class.
