🌟Welcome to First Grade Phonics Fun: Decodable Reading for Beginners! In this phonics class, students will build strong reading skills by learning a new phonics concept each week. Each lesson includes a carefully structured approach to help students understand letter sounds, blends, digraphs, and word patterns. We’ll focus on applying these skills to read simple, decodable books that align with each week's concept. Each lesson follows a step-by-step process: 1. Introduction to New Phonics Skill – Students will be introduced to a new sound or letter pattern, such as blends, digraphs, or vowel rules. 2. Guided Practice – Together, we will practice decoding words that use the new skill, helping students learn how to break down and blend sounds. 3. Reading a Decodable Story – Students will read a carefully selected story that focuses on the weekly phonics concept, allowing them to practice applying what they’ve learned in context. 4. Fluency and Comprehension – As we read, we'll also work on understanding the story, making connections, and building fluency by rereading and discussing the text. By the end of the course, students will gain a deeper understanding of how letters and sounds work together, boosting their confidence and reading ability. Join us for an engaging and interactive journey into the world of phonics and reading! 🌟Weekly Topics Include: Week 1: Consonant Digraph "ch" (Week of January 6) Week 2: Silent "w" (Week of January 13) Week 3: Final consonant "n" blends (Week of January 20) Week 4: Final consonant blends (Week of January 26) Week 5: 3-letter consonant "s" blends (Week of February 3) Week 6: Consonant digraph "ck" (Week of February 10) Week 7: Consonant digraph "ng" (Week of February 17) Week 8: Consonant doubling (Week of February 24) Week 9: Open vowels (Week of March 3) Week 10: Inflectional and plural endings (-s, -es) (Week of March 10) Week 11: Inflectional ending "-ing" (Week of March 17) Week 12: Inflectional ending "-ed" (Week of March 24) Week 13: Long "e" vowel digraphs (Week of March 31) Week 14: Short "e" vowel digraphs (Week of April 7) Week 15: Final consonant trigraphs (Week of April 14) Week 16: Soft consonants "c" and "g" (Week of April 21) Week 17: Final soft consonant "g" (Week of April 28) Week 18: Long "a" vowel digraphs (Week of May 5) Week 19: Long "o" vowel digraphs (Week of May 12) Week 20: Silent "k" and inflectional ending "-est" (Week of May 19) Week 21: Long "i" vowel patterns (Week of May 26) Week 22: Diphthong "oi" (Week of June 2) Week 23: Diphthong "ou" (Week of June 9) Week 24: R-controlled vowels: "a" (Week of June 16) Week 25: R-controlled vowels: "u" (Week of June 23) Week 26: R-controlled vowels: "o" (Week of June 30)
