Description

Class Experience

This class will focus on crucial skills taught throughout first grade. To begin each class, I will ask a question and have sharing time for the students. This is to get the students more comfortable with each other and participating in the rest of the class activities. Then, we will be practicing sight words, letters, and how to blend letter sounds to form words. We will then use these skills to practice reading sentences. This will begin with blending short vowel words in August/September...

Students will identify letter sounds and use them to make words. They will also identify numbers and practice strategies for making and taking apart a number.

My bachelor’s degree is in Elementary Education. I am a certified teacher for PreK-6th grade and I was a first grade teacher for 4 years.

Students are encouraged to bring a mini whiteboard, dry-erase marker, and eraser, but it is not required if you think it will just be a distraction for your child. They may also use paper and pencil if you do not have these supplies and wish for them to participate in this way.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
