JOIN OUR CLASS AT ANY TIME!!! This is a full Reading curriculum course taught by a certified teacher and Reading Specialist using the Science of Teaching Reading principles. This class is different from others because it follows a curriculum and is academically focused while being engaging and motivating for all learners. The curriculum is cross-curricular so science and social studies topics be also be covered. Small class sizes ensure that your child gets the one on one instruction your child needs, child will learn to read guaranteed! Get your child ready for school! First Grade State Standards: READING STANDARDS FOR LITERATURE Ask and answer questions about key details in a text. Retell stories, key details, and demonstrate understanding of their central message Describe characters, settings, and major events in a story, using key details. CRAFT AND STRUCTURE Identify words and phrases in stories or poems that suggest feelings Explain major differences between books Point of view INTERGRATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND IDEAS Use illustrations and details in a story to describe its characters, setting, or events. Compare and contrast characters in stories. KEY IDEAS AND DETAILS Ask and answer questions about key details in a text. Identify the main topic and retell key details of a text. Describe the connection between two individuals, events, ideas, or pieces of information CRAFT AND STRUCTURE Ask and answer questions to help determine or clarify the meaning of words and phrases Know and use various text features INTEGRATRION OF KNOWLEDGE AND IDEAS Use the illustrations and details in a text to describe its key ideas. Identify basic similarities in and differences between two texts on the same topic RANGE OF READING AND LEVEL OF TEXT COMPLEXITY Read informational texts PRINT CONCEPTS Organization and basic features of print. Recognize the distinguishing features of a sentence PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes). Distinguish long from short vowel sounds in spoken single- Blending sounds (phonemes), including consonant blends. Isolate and pronounce initial, medial vowel, and final sounds PHONICS AND WORD RECOGNITION Spelling-sound correspondences for common consonant digraphs. Decode regularly spelled one and two syllable words. Know final -e and common vowel team conventions for representing long vowel sounds. Read words with inflectional endings. Recognize and read irregularly spelled words. FLUENCY Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. Use context to confirm or self-correct word recognition and understanding WRITING Write opinion pieces Write informative/explanatory texts Write narratives Research to build and present knowledge .....and much more! Important Notes for Class: We will have one 4 minute brain break per class. Some students might need small group/1:1 intervention to be successful in this course (Small group/1:1 tutoring will be offered as needed) The syllabus may be adjusted as needed to support learner's needs and growth

In assessment classes. I will conduct one-on-one assessments to help guide whole and small group instruction for all learners in the break out room while other learners are solving reading puzzles and games.

All learner types will be valued and instruction will be tailored to meet the student's needs and learning goals.
Parental Guidance
This course will use the Raz-Plus curriculum. The curriculum is used for elementary students. No subscriptions are required. These tools will we used in our online lessons during class with minimal downloading/printing.
Pre-Requisites
Learners need to know their letters, sounds, and some words. My reading assessment class is a recommend prerequisite to determine which class would fit the needs of your child best.
