Homework
1 hour per week. Homework is optional in our classes, however we encourage everyone to complete homework and share it in the classroom.
Assessment
Students are only given assessments upon parents request.

Class Experience

US Grade 1
In this homeschool class, students will receive an entire first-grade experience through Science, Math, Social Studies, English, Writing, and Reading. A certified teacher and a homeschooled parent will teach students.

In this 1st-grade homeschool class, students will learn everything needed to succeed as first-graders. We will enjoy learning and practicing our motoring movement skills through singing and dancing. Students can work on their social skills by interacting with their classmates. Students can access interactive learning websites such as Lilio, Epic!, Zearn, NearPod, etc. Your student will receive a password and username once they have registered for the class. Teachers will assign an assignment to your learner throughout the week on the website. 

We will enjoy learning and practicing our motoring movement skills through singing and dancing. Students can work on their social skills by interacting with their classmates.

***It is imperative to note that learners will take 10 minutes in the middle of class. This is considered a "BRAIN BREAK." During our breaks, students can step away from the camera, use the restroom, grab a sip of water, color, chit-chat with their classmates, etc.

Reading and Language will cover the following: 
CVC words 
Story sequence 
Phonics (understanding the concepts; consonant combinations).
Sight Words 
Vocabulary 
Blend consonant Sounds (vowel and consonant digraphs, and more)
Read simple stories fluently and independently.
Retell the main idea of a story and answer questions about the text.
Identify parts of a story or book.

Writing: 
Write from top to bottom, left to right, while using spacing between words.
Correctly write 3- 4 letter words and longer words phonetically.
Write simple sentences and short stories or paragraphs in chronological order.

Language Arts: 
Use correct capitalization and punctuation.
Understand and identify the parts of speech and types of sentences.
Identify compound words and distinguish between proper and possessive nouns.

Math: 
Count to 100; county by 5s and 10s to 100; count by 2s to 40
Represent numbers on a number line
Add and subtract 2-digit numbers
Write the date; tell the time; read a calendar
Count and create coin combinations; add and subtract money
Identify, sort, and classify 2-dimensional shapes
Understanding the value of money

Science:

Each week, our class will follow a unique theme. This will help keep students engaged and make learning more fun. 

Please note that we do not have class on ALL United States’ federal holiday.

Learning Goals

For students to develop reading fluency while developing writing skills. Students will begin to expand their math knowledge beyond shapes and number identification.

It aims to provide comprehensive coverage of early literacy skills and personalized and differentiated instruction. Students start with a placement test to find their unique starting place. Epic is the leading digital reading platform—built on a collection of 40,000+ popular, high-quality books from 250+ of the world's best publishers—that safely fuels curiosity and reading confidence for kids 12 and under. All of the above interactive platforms will be used in class to help teachers assist students learner and help meet their learner goals.

Suggestion: 
It may be easier to create a daily folder for each day with the materials/worksheets already ready for your learner. You may also want to try colored-coded folders for each day: Monday-red, Tuesday-blue, Wednesday-green, etc. I try my best each week to let you all know what we are working on each day. If you need any other tips, please let me know. I love to help all of our learners to be organized.
