Class Experience

US Grade 1
🍎Welcome to First Grade Circle Time! This is an ongoing subscription class that meets once a week. The small class size allows for lots of interactive learning and fun.
I also offer a similar 4-day a week course!

⭐️The academic skills will slowly progress throughout the school year, similar to a traditional first grade program. In September, we will work on CVC words (short vowels- run, dig, top) and simple addition/subtraction (10 - 6 = 4, 5 + __ = 7). Then we will gradually add consonant blends, long vowels, digraphs, r-controlled, etc (spot, beach, show, thorn) and more difficult math concepts (14 - ___ = 5, 25 + 20 = ___ ) as the school year progresses. *Weekly skills are at the bottom of this listing.

🌻Class Activities:
~Calendar
~Weather
~Locate the Continents on Map
~Skip Counting/Number Sense
~Vocabulary ("Fancy Word" of the Day)
~Phonics - Blending Letters to Read Words
~Math Story Problem of the Day
~My friend Ziggy may share a couple of silly jokes!

☀️Students are encouraged to participate in this interactive class. Sometimes students will answer/chant things together, while other times I may call on students separately to respond. If they don't feel comfortable speaking alone, that's ok! Sometimes I may need to mute students due to background noise or if we're singing or reading together, as it can get confusing. Please be sure your learner knows how to use the unmute button. It would be helpful if students have a quiet, distraction-free area, if possible.

I can't wait to see you in class!

✏️IMPORTANT NOTE:
This is an ongoing weekly subscription class. You can join for one class or continue for several weeks. You will be automatically charged each Sunday for the following week once you've subscribed. When you want to unsubscribe, be sure to do so before Sunday so you won't be charged for the following week.
If a class isn’t scheduled for a particular day, you will not be charged.
If your child misses a live class, a video of the class will be available for your child to use.

California Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello and welcome! My name is Ms. Sarah. I am a credentialed teacher with 18 years of experience teaching in the public, private, and online school settings. Most of my years spent teaching have been in first grade, which I love. I enjoy teaching Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with specialization in Early Childhood. I also have a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction.

I like to teach lessons that are interactive, engaging, meaningful, and fun. I want students to not be afraid to take risks in learning. Even if they don’t get the correct answer right away, that’s ok, as long as they try their best. Learning is an ongoing process and everybody learns at different rates and through different methods and styles.

I love animals and I have lots of pets, including dogs, birds, and bunnies. I also enjoy baking, tap dancing, and learning new things. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
