Loving the book you're reading? Can't put it down? Want to tell the whole world about it? This is the class for you! The first chapter of a book can hook a reader. This is your chance to read the first chapter of that book you're so excited about to friends who love books as much as you do. They might even add it to their TBR (to be read) lists after you share! Watch your own TBR pile or list grow as you listen to your classmates share the first chapter of their current book loves...
Students will gain confidence with public speaking by sharing something they're excited about- books! Students who choose to read aloud will improve fluency through practice. Some benefits of listening to others read aloud: Improves comprehension Increases reading accuracy, speed, and fluency Expands vocabulary Teaches pronunciation improves comprehension.

Read your chapter silently. Then, read it aloud. This is optional, but recommended because it helps you with timing and fluency.
Bring a book to share each week!
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be choosing the books they share, so I am unable to prescreen books to provide book reviews or trigger warnings. However, all books are expected to be published for 9-14 year olds. After each class I will post the title, author, and common sense media review (if available) of each book.
