US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
During the class I will lead children on a journey to Spain (tell them a story) where a royal painter, Francisco Goya, will "introduce" us to His Majesty King Carlos and his family. We will accompany them to the country side for a day of fun and games. We will look at and discuss some of the Goya's famous paintings. In a second part of the class, we will make a craft inspired by Goya's still life painting presented among others during the first part of the class. I will encourage children to...
This class is taught in English.
We will learn a few facts about Goya and the time period. We will also learn (or review) what painters do and what type of art is called still life. We will be naming colors and shapes while looking at Goya's pictures.
Materials for Craft • Play dough or modeling clay in different colors • Cardboard about 7 x 9 inches (cut out from cookie box or cereal box) • Jar lids like ones from jam, mayo, or peanut butter • Part of paper towel tube or toilet paper about 2.5 inches tall • Small stickers • Scotch tape • Markers or crayons • Glue • For warm season: 2-3 flowers like dandelions; for cold season: 2-3 medium size leaves or 1-2 cut short fir tree's (or pine tree's) branches
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
For the craft portion of the class, parental help is required for younger students (ages 4-5) and recommended for older students (ages 6-8) due to the use of scissors.
