Class Experience
In the first part of the class, we will look at famous paintings of fall and discuss the colors and the titles of some of them. With other paintings, we will talk about activities that might be fun to do in a fall. We will finish the first part of the class by looking at Arcimboldo’s painting "Autumn" and playing “I spy game” with it. The students will get exposed to several famous paintings depicting fall. They will learn (or review) the synonym for the word “Fall”. They will learn about the colors and activities that has been associated with fall through history. They will also learn (or review) what is portrait. They will exercise their fine motor skills while working on the art project inspired by paintings they were exposed to.
Materials for craft: 1. Hard to squeeze plastic bottle, like Cola or Sprite bottle about 20 oz (591 ml) 2. Play dough in 2-3 different colors including red 3. Scotch tape 4. Multiple maple or oaks leaves with long stems 5. 1-2 Long narrow pine cones 6. 4 small acorns with cupules (cups) 7. 1 – 2 short pine branches (optional) 8. Wild flowers, wheat stalks, fallen leaves, and/ or wild grasses (optional) 9. Any other light weighted natural materials
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
For the craft portion of the class, parental guidance is required for younger students (ages 4-5) for the use of scissors and other materials. Parental guidance is recommended for older students (ages 6-8). Please note that as per Outschool policy, parents should remain off camera Thank you.
