US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
In this class we will enjoy famous paintings as we learn about costumes and masks, along with carnival and its characters. We will explore what dressing up looked like long ago in European culture and what characters used to be popular. We will consider different ways to disguise oneself and the appeal of costumes and masks. Among other artworks, we will look at the paintings by Paul Cezanne, Pablo Picasso, and René Magritte. Students will: • learn some facts about costumes and masquerades in European tradition • learn (or review) what artists do • practice their observation skills • exercise their fine motor skills while working on an art project • exercise their imagination while creating their own masks or disguises
1. 1 White paper 2. Construction paper 3. 1 Brown lunch bag (optional) 4. 1-2 pictures of food OR flowers 5 X 5 (cut out of newspaper or magazine) 5. Stickers (optional) 6. Pom-poms, sequins (optional) 7. Glue stick 8. Small scissors 9. Markers 10. Scotch tape
For the craft portion of the class, parental guidance is required for younger students (ages 4-5) for the use of scissors and other materials. Parental guidance is recommended for older students (ages 6-8). Please note that as per Outschool policy, parents should remain off camera Thank you.
