This class will be conducted over video chat and demonstration. Children will learn and practice ways to calm their mind and body when feeling stress or worry. Students will follow along as we explore breathing techniques and simple cross-body movements that integrate the right and left brain hemispheres for higher brain functioning. At the end of the class, students will be guided through a short meditation.
Students will gain simple, yet effective coping skills they can use anytime they feel stressed, fearful, or frustrated.
I've been working with children for nearly 20 years teaching dance, yoga, and pilates and as a somatic body-work practitioner. I work with, on average, over 100 students each week and I'm regularly invited to teach workshops at schools across North America. I'm also a mother to a child with sensory processing disorder and anxiety, and these skills are things I use in our daily routine that help my own child navigate through life in a happier, less stressed state.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
