Class Experience

Beginner Level
During this 50 minute educational and immersive class I offer a presentation complete with a real life example we can all relate to and bring it all full circle with an experiential learning experience. We will mentally reflect on where we personally feel in-balance and where we feel an unbalance. We will look at habits, motivation and goal setting through the lens of some interesting brain science about neurotransmitters and how to help make a new habit or goal more "sticky". Students will discover steps that will allow them to formulate goals that they can accomplish. We will explore motivation, SMARTER goal setting and framing goals in positive written form with clearly defined action steps and how to keep sticking to your goals. Learners will explore where they would like better balance in their life. Students will gain an understanding of why unhelpful habits may be persistent and why helpful habits may feel fleeting. Students will learn the steps on how to help make the helpful habits more "sticky" within a realistic timeline.

We'll also work with mental imagery / guided visualization. Now you may ask, what does a guided visualization have to do with brain science? Well, a lot actually. The brain doesn’t know the difference between real life and mental imagery. So with the help of visualization, the brain can practice any new skill and get the same increased results as practice in real life. A guided visualization helps a person use their imagination to take them to a calm, peaceful place. During a guided visualization everyone is fully conscious of what is happening. I will help guide students to a relaxed mental state where they can explore their own answers to questions they have been struggling to resolve within their conscious minds. I will help guide students to use their imagination to have a full-five sensory experience and visualize their best-case scenario. Just as Olympic athletes use visualization before competitions to improve their outcomes, I can help students incorporate the practice of visualization into a new life skill. The student will end the guided visualization feeling calm, relaxed and with a new, inspired game plan for the future.

During our guided visualization, learners will focus their mental imagery on where they would like better balance in their life, discover what their personal motivations are and what habits will help them to achieve their goals.

Learners will have the option of creating a personal banner after class, to help them maintain a connection with their new habits, motivations and goals.

Learners will leave with an understanding that habits, motivation and goal setting are a journey of practice that will gain traction over time and they will be encouraged to continue to work on their new habits and goals as well as strengthen their personal motivators.

Learning Goals

Learners will develop a strategy to achieve a new habit & understand how their brain can help motivate them to keep their goal.
