In this one time class, students will investigate their interests and find career paths that match those interests.
Class experience
Uh oh! High school is ending soon and you have no idea what to do! In this class, students ages 15-18 will take different interest inventories to determine what Holland Codes and Career Clusters they fit into their best. We will learn what each Holland code is and what that means for the student. We will use a website during class to search occupations that fit into the Holland Codes and Career Clusters they fell into. They will learn the average wage, outlook, and education needed for...
The goal for this class is to learn the different Holland Codes and explore which code the student fall into. They will then more knowledgeable about which career paths fall into their interests. This will NOT, of course, guarantee that your student will know exactly what career path they want to do, but it can help get them thinking about it and hopefully narrow it down.
I have taught very similar classes in a school setting at a high school level.
Student may want something to write on to take notes about the careers they research, but it is not required.
