Uh oh! High school is ending soon and you have no idea what to do! In this class, students ages 15-18 will take different interest inventories to determine what Holland Codes and Career Clusters they fit into their best. We will learn what each Holland code is and what that means for the student. We will use a website during class to search occupations that fit into the Holland Codes and Career Clusters they fell into. They will learn the average wage, outlook, and education needed for each occupation they look at. We will discuss what occupations they found at the end of class with everyone. There will be some discussions during class, but most of class will be the students taking the interest inventories and exploring different career choices. No prior knowledge is needed for this class and all students in this age group are welcome to attend. In this class students will need to have access to different websites during class. A laptop or desktop computer might work better for this class rather than a mobile device.
Learning Goals
The goal for this class is to learn the different Holland Codes and explore which code the student fall into. They will then more knowledgeable about which career paths fall into their interests. This will NOT, of course, guarantee that your student will know exactly what career path they want to do, but it can help get them thinking about it and hopefully narrow it down.
